Proudly Canadian Since 1952
Sixty years ago, on May 15th 1952, Leonard Simpson opened the first Town Shoes store in Toronto, at Canada’s first shopping center, Sunnybrook Plaza. Just over one year later, Town opened its second store at Lawrence Plaza in Toronto.
From that very first day, Town Shoes’ success had been largely attributed to always having a clear direction and a strong focus on its objectives. Town Shoes was, is, and always will be, fashion and quality at affordable prices.
In 2005, Town Shoes began its nationwide expansion, opening its first stores outside of Ontario. Town Shoes now operates stores in British Columbia, Alberta, Manitoba, Ontario, Nova Scotia. Town Shoes continues to grow each year.
In 2012, Town Shoes became the largest branded footwear retailer in Canada, operating 6 banners; Town Shoes, Freedman, Sterling Shoes, The Shoe Company, Shoe Warehouse and Skechers Canada.
